WHAT'S HAPPENING
VIP to VIP Marketplace Migration Eligibility Expanded
To support customer migration from VIP to VIP Marketplace, we have released enhancements to facilitate migration in the following scenarios that previously were not supported:
During the return window
With open Purchase Authorizations (PAs)
During the renewal window
See below for additional information.
During the return window: Previously, VIP customers could migrate to VIP Marketplace only when they had no VIP orders that were within the 30-day return period. This could be limiting for customers who placed frequent orders. Effective immediately, this restriction has been removed, and customers may migrate from VIP to VIP Marketplace at any time, regardless of whether they have purchased any licenses that are currently within the VIP return window.
If the VIP Member has any VIP orders that are eligible for return, then such orders may no longer be returned after migration to VIP Marketplace. And upon migration to VIP Marketplace, VIP Member waives any rights to return for such orders.
With open Purchase Authorizations: Previously, VIP customers could migrate to VIP Marketplace only if they had no open Purchase Authorizations (PAs). Open PAs are PAs for which a corresponding order has not been received within the grace period. Effective immediately, VIP customers with open PAs may migrate from VIP to VIP Marketplace at any time.
Upon migration to VIP Marketplace, any licenses added via a PA for which a corresponding order has not been received will be deprovisioned. After migration, Account Managers will need to work with customers to either place a new order or add new licenses in the Admin Console for immediate use, after which an order must be placed within 7 days.
During the renewal window: Previously, VIP customers could migrate to VIP Marketplace only when they were not within a renewal window of 30 days before to 30 days after their VIP Anniversary date, unless a full renewal order had been received by Adobe and their Anniversary Date had passed. Effective immediately, if the customer is within their VIP renewal window, their full VIP renewal order may be placed either prior to or after migration. If the customer has placed a partial VIP renewal order, they may migrate to VIP Marketplace only after their Anniversary Date has passed.

*A full renewal is when all license quantities for each product type from the previous year are renewed. If a lower quantity of any product type is renewed, even if the total quantity is maintained by switching product types, it is considered a partial renewal.
All other migration eligibility criteria remain in effect. See the VIP Marketplace Sales & Administration Guide for additional information on migrating to VIP Marketplace.
Planned system update beginning after close of business on January 12, 2024
As part of planned Adobe system update, SAP will be placed in Read-Only mode beginning 5PM Pacific on Friday, January 12, 2024. All system maintenance is planned to be completed over the weekend and full system access restored by 12AM Pacific on Monday, January 15, 2024.
During this time, orders placed via EDI will queue for processing as soon as SAP access is returned to Read/Write mode. VIP Marketplace orders and new customer creation are not impacted. Billing and VIP > VIP Marketplace migrations will be queued until SAP has returned to Read/Write mode.
The Reseller Console and Admin Console will be available, but processes initiated via these surfaces, such as new VIP ID creation, will be queued for processing after SAP is returned to Read/Write mode.
The Adobe Licensing Website (LWS) will be unavailable during this time. Users will not be able to log in to the system to access existing order data or place new orders until SAP is returned to Read/Write mode.
VIP Direct and VIP Custom orders placed via the Adobe Ordering Portal will be queue for processing after SAP is returned to Read/Write mode. Account Managers submitting orders during this window should advise customers that there will be a slight delay for order processing.
Reminder: Adobe Value Incentive Plan - Buying Programs Update
The Adobe VIP Marketplace Buying Program is the next evolution of our customer and reseller experience—based on the Adobe Value Incentive Plan (VIP) Buying Program. VIP Marketplace enables partners to sell Adobe products on their own marketplaces while providing a simple, automated, and more efficient customer experience. Resellers and customers purchasing through VIP Marketplace are benefiting from a one-stop-shop experience, with the ability to bundle software and services from multiple vendors and an improved overall purchasing and license management experience.
Adobe partners using VIP Marketplace today are recognizing significant time and efficiency savings, incremental retention and revenue benefits from auto-renewal support, and growth in their customer base. Adobe sees VIP Marketplace as a critical technology shift to address more potential opportunities for our end customers and partners including evolving digital customer journeys and delivering on pricing models that have been historically difficult to implement.
We have reached core feature parity with our VIP Buying Program for commercial customers and will continue to invest in VIP Marketplace as our lead Buying Program for the Adobe Partner Connection resale channel. Over the coming fiscal year, we will begin sunsetting support for the VIP Buying Program.
Adobe will retire the VIP Buying Program for the commercial market segment by the end of January 2025.
On December 11, 2023, we specifically announced:
- By mid-2024*, Adobe will no longer support new VIP contract creation for the commercial segment of the VIP Buying Program.
- By mid-2024*, no new offers (including promotions) will be included in VIP and any new offers (including promotions) will be onboarded into VIP Marketplace only.
- By January 31, 2025, partners are expected to complete commercial customer migrations from VIP to VIP Marketplace.
- As of February 1, 2025, all new and renewal orders must be transacted through VIP Marketplace for commercial segment customers.
- Customers in the education and government segments are currently supported in both the VIP and VIP Marketplace Buying Programs. We will be sharing more information for discontinuing VIP program support for these market segments.
*Final dates for mid-2024 changes will be announced closer to time.
We understand that this is a significant change. Adobe sales, technical, and operations leaders are planning a series of partner enablement activities over the coming months that will continue throughout 2024. We will share details on how to participate in these enablement activities, and how we will continue to provide additional information, resources, and improved support throughout this transitional period to support your success with VIP Marketplace.

Reminder: Clarification on VIP to VIP Marketplace Migration for VIP 3YC Members
On March 28, 2023, Adobe updated the VIP 3-Year Commit Amendment. A VIP Member that agrees to the updated VIP 3YC Amendment on or after March 28, 2023 agrees to annually renew the minimum commitment and have the minimum commitment auto-renew upon migration to VIP Marketplace. In exchange, Adobe agrees to offer set discounted partner pricing during the member’s 3-year commit agreement term. This means that all customers that accepted VIP 3-Year Commit beginning March 28, 2023 agree to auto-renew their minimum commitment once these customers migrate to VIP Marketplace.
- Action: Remind your VIP Members that when they accept the VIP 3-Year Commit Amendment, these VIP Members are agreeing to auto-renew the minimum commitment.
- Note on migration: VIP Members that have accepted the VIP 3-Year Commit Amendment on March 29, 2023 or later are eligible to migrate to VIP Marketplace, as these customers have agreed to auto-renew the minimum commit in their 3-Year Commit Amendment.
NEW: VIP Members with a 3-year commit term that began on or prior to March 28, 2023 and who are not in the final year of their 3-year commit term will not be allowed to migrate to VIP Marketplace for the time being. These customers may migrate to VIP Marketplace only after their second annual renewal during their 3-Year Commit Amendment.
See the VIP Marketplace sales & administration guide (Subscription term options > 3-year commit option) for additional details on 3-year commit.
