Reminder: Education sub-segment selection requirement beginning November 12, 2024
Please be aware that there is an upcoming update being released on November 12, 2024 that will apply to all customers in the Education market segment (regardless of Buying Program or region). This is an important effort to ensure that the customer sub-segment selection is confirmed, along with corresponding privacy terms, to ensure compliance.
Starting on November 12, system admins of an organization (Admin Console) that has the market segment = Education will be prompted to select their applicable sub-segment upon first login to their Admin Console after this release -- even if they had made their sub-segment selection in the past -- before proceeding to access their Admin Console.
For customers with their country set to “Country = United States” who select “Sub-segment = K-12”, they will also be presented with the COPPA Direct Notice. As a reminder, for customers who purchase in VIP Marketplace or VIP and are in the Education market segment, their valid sub-segment options include K-12, Higher education, or Non-profit.
There is no specific action required for any Account Manager or reseller. This is a notification for your awareness only.
Reminder: VIP Marketplace banner added to Admin Console
The following banner is being added to the Admin Console advising VIP customers to expect to be migrated to VIP Marketplace:
"If you purchase your Adobe licenses through a reseller, your reseller will work with you to migrate your Value Incentive Plan (VIP) account to VIP Marketplace. Contact your reseller for details. Learn more."
The banner will be shown only to VIP commercial customers. The expected launch date is November 5, 2024.
Reminder: VIP Marketplace Late Renewals
Effective November 5, 2024, Direct Partners will be able to identify orders placed after the Anniversary Date as a renewal. Per the VIP Marketplace program terms, all renewals are due on the Anniversary Date. When auto-renewal is enabled, renewals are placed automatically on the Anniversary Date. If auto-renewal is not turned on, then renewal orders must be placed manually on the Anniversary Date. Thus, there will likely be cases where renewal orders are placed after the Anniversary Date. With this new feature, partners can correctly designate such orders as renewals and eliminate ordering issues, including duplication of licenses and incorrect proration.
When placing a renewal order after the Anniversary Date, use the standard VIP Marketplace SKUs and explicitly identify the order as a “Renewal” type. Reference the API documentation for details.
The renewal effective date will be aligned with the Anniversary Date.
All fees will be calculated based on the full duration of the license term.
The 14-day return period will begin on the order date.
The licenses will be identified correctly as renewals and not duplicate new licenses.
The renewal order can include only products from the customer’s previous term. Any new license orders must be placed separately.
Note that this functionality is being made available to accommodate short administrative delays in submitting manual renewal orders. It does not provide a grace period for late renewals.
Please reference the API documentation regarding required technical updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long after the Anniversary Date will late renewals be accepted?
While all renewals are due by the Anniversary Date, Adobe will allow up to 14 days for late renewals to accommodate occasional administrative delays or system issues.
Is this 14-day period an official grace period that partners can communicate to customers?
No. All renewal orders are due by the Anniversary Date. However, Adobe will currently allow up to 14 days for late renewals as a courtesy accommodation for occasional administrative delays or system issues. Partners can set up their marketplaces with this 14-day period in mind, but they should standardize on renewals orders being due by the Anniversary Date.
We have been able to process late renewals up to 30 days beyond the Anniversary Date. Will this be the system behavior going forward?
No. While the current system behavior has been set up more generously to accommodate partners during the transition to VIP Marketplace, this will not be the system behavior going forward. Partners should work towards processing all renewal orders by the Anniversary Date with the understanding that Adobe will accommodate late renewals up to 14 days after the Anniversary Date.
Reminder: Upcoming changes for the VIP and VIP Marketplace programs on December 2, 2024
VIP Marketplace is the next evolution of our customer and reseller experience—based on the Adobe Value Incentive Plan (VIP) Buying Program. In December 2023, we announced that Adobe will be retiring the Value Incentive Plan (VIP) Buying Program for the commercial market segment by January 31, 2025. This was followed by an additional announcement in June 2024 that provided incremental updates related to the sunset timelines for VIP in the commercial segment, as well as announcing the sunset timelines for the VIP program for the government and education market segments by November 30, 2025.
To support partners’ planning efforts, we are summarizing the key changes planned for December 2024.
The following components of the VIP Buying Program for the commercial segment will be discontinued on or before December 2, 2024. These changes apply worldwide, excluding China and restricted countries.
- Adobe will no longer support new VIP commercial contract creation. Partners will be expected to process any new commercial contract creation in VIP Marketplace. (Previously announced)
- New product launches/new offers (including promotions) will be discontinued in VIP and only made available for partners in VIP Marketplace. (Previously announced)
- Adobe will no longer support Linked Membership enrollments for VIP commercial customers. Partners will be expected to migrate customers to VIP Marketplace and utilize the new Linked Membership capabilities on the marketplace platform. (New announcement)
- Adobe Partner Connection (APC) financial incentives for partners for VIP commercial will end on November 29, 2024, which is the last day of Adobe’s fiscal year. (Previously announced)
The following will apply to the VIP Marketplace Buying Program across the commercial, government, and education market segments:
- Adobe will be introducing a Returns Exception policy and process with corresponding RMA fee structure. (New announcement)
